My Ceramics has been inspired by my love of the ocean and its environment. The colours, textures and other sensory delights are interwoven into the textures and form of the clay pieces.
I use Stoneware and Porcelain clays, either thrown on the wheel or made by hand. The pottery is then fired by an Electric kiln or in the exciting Raku firing method. I hand paint original designs on my sculpted forms; add Australian animals and people. Overseas travel has also influenced my styles. Having recently travelled to Japan (the original home of Raku firing) I have become strongly influenced by the organic lines of Japanese designed pottery. I am continuing to evolve as a Ceramic artist and embrace new techniques and firing options. This craft has never ending creative and technical possibilities which keeps hold of my imaginative mind.
