I’m Sam, the furniture designer and maker at Skél. I specialise in mid-century, Scandinavian inspired designs made with Australian, European and American timbers.
My aim at Skél is to create a lasting, high quality piece of furniture with creative input from my customers. Good design includes elements of beauty, simplicity and utility and I believe it should be accessible to many. This ethos goes to the heart of modernist design and the soul of each piece I create.
On offer is a range of original furniture designs, the components of which can be customised by you. The entire piece of furniture is made in my Claremont workshop using traditional and innovative joinery techniques. Each step of the process is done by me, from the original design, meeting with you and selecting timber boards, right through to constructing the piece with strong joinery and flowing lines, finessing details and applying the desired finish.
