The gathered dining table by Jack Flanagan for Oath, was formed as a result of exploring the transition from one two-dimensional shape morphing into another. In this case a triangle into a circle. This was used to create a flowing tapered pedestal base with a rigid steel material. The solution was to gather the steel, like in dress making.
